OPEN LETTER TO THE LEADERS OF THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC RE: A HALF-CENTURY OF LIES AND BETRAYAL
To the Unelected Rulers of Iran,
For over four decades, you have sustained your grip on power through a foundation of absolute deceit. You have looked the Iranian people in the eye and lied about your wars, your crimes, and your true allegiances.
The Lie of the “Sacred Defense” You dragged the Iran-Iraq War on for eight years—six years longer than necessary. After the liberation of Khorramshahr in 1982, when the world and even the enemy proposed peace, Khomeini insisted on continuing the war to “export the revolution”. You told mothers their sons were martyrs protecting the country and Iranian women from the Iraqi enemy. Now, look at you. The very “enemy” you claimed to fight—Iraqi militias—are now being imported by you to kill Iranians in the streets of Tehran. You have brought foreign mercenaries from Kataib Hezbollah and the Badr Organization to silence the daughters of Iran. You did not fight to protect Iran; you fought to protect your seat of power.
The Lie of Cinema Rex Your reign began with fire and falsehood. In 1978, when hundreds of innocents were burned alive inside Cinema Rex in Abadan, you screamed that it was the Shah’s SAVAK. We now know it was your own ideological foot-soldiers who barred the doors and lit the match to incite a revolution. You rose from the ashes of your own people.
The Lie of the Mashhad Bombing In 1994, you bombed the holiest shrine in Iran, the Imam Reza shrine, and blamed it on political opponents to justify a brutal crackdown. You desecrated a holy site and murdered pilgrims solely to manufacture a political narrative.
The Lie of Flight PS752 We have not forgotten January 2020. You shot down a passenger plane full of Iranians, students, and families. For three days, you lied to the world, claiming it was a “technical failure,” bulldozing the crash site to hide your crime. You only admitted the truth when the evidence became undeniable.
When Will You Stop? From the ashes of Cinema Rex to the downing of Flight 752, your history is a mockery of truth. You claim to be the guardians of Iran, yet you are its butchers. You claim to oppose the West, yet your children live in luxury in Europe and America while you execute the children of the poor in Iran.
We ask you a simple question, though we know you have no answer: When will the lies stop? The world no longer believes you. The Iranian people no longer fear you. And history will not forgive you.
